U Rating



A U (universal) rate film is:
- Suitable for everyone over 5 years old
- Contains a positive moral framework to educate children
- Offers reassuring counterbalances to threat so as not to scare younger audiences
- Suitable for children to view alone
- Contains no drugs, sexual content, swearing, discrimination or emphasis on realistic weapons.

Examples of U rated children's films:
Shrek (2001), Cinderella (1950), Star Wars Episode IV: a New Hope (1977)
